Introduction to Tibetan Buddhism – Sundays from 10-11am – Beginner’s Level. In this class , students are introduced to the basic principles of Tibetan Buddhism, and have an opportunity to learn how to engage in a daily meditation practice. We’ll have time for questions, and for discussing how to bring the benefits of Buddhist philosophy and meditation practice into our daily lives. We use an excellent introductory text called Awakening the Buddha Within by Lama Surya Das. After learning how to follow a basic meditation practice, students are then encouraged to ask themselves whether this increases their loving kindness, compassion, joy, and equanimity. If so, you may have found a teacher and sangha that work for you. This is an ongoing class. After paying the $50 registration fee, students may attend the class for the next 8 weeks. After this, if they feel that this teacher and sangha are a good match, they may become a member of the sangha by supporting it with a monthly donation that fits their budget. Then, they are free to continue attending the Intro Class as long as they wish. Students can also add the Green Tara and Ngondro practices when they feel ready to do so. All is covered by their monthly donation to the sangha.
Green Tara Practice – Friday mornings from 10-11:30 am – Intermediate Level –Green Tara is known as the Mother of All Buddhas. We engage in this practice to awaken the feminine expression of our own inherent Buddha Nature. Green Tara is known for her ability to comfort sentient beings, and to dispel fear, anxiety and suffering. She naturally awakens the “motherly” reserves we all have within ourselves, and builds upon this capacity so that we may better serve others and ourselves, and come to know ourselves as kind and wise spiritual beings. Please contact Lhamo Khandro if you are experiencing financial hardship, and need for the $50 fee to be waived or reduced. No one should be separated from the Buddha’s teachings due to financial hardship.

Group Ngondro Practice – Saturdays from 10-11:30 am – Intermediate Level The Ngondro Practice is an important and transformative practice that lies at the heart of Tibetan Buddhist training. It contains the pith instructions of Guru Rinpoche’s teachings. He is known as “the Second Buddha”, and is revered for bringing Buddhism to Tibet in the 8th century. Students first attain a solid foundation by attending the Introduction to Tibetan Buddhism Class. Once they have established this ground, they are prepared to deepen their training by learning how to engage in the Ngondro Practice.
