Well, here’s to the best laid plans ….. We all know this story, Feeling good, mapping the week out, and then Impermanence steps in to say, “I don’t think so.” This is a prelude to the cancellation of tonight’s Advanced Class. Patrick got very sick, and then right as he started to perk up, I caught it. The good news is that a very good doctor appeared right when I needed him, and today feels like a turning point. Nevertheless, my voice is just a squeak, embellished with a lot of wheezes. Rather musical.
How do I practice with what’s happening now? I’m listening to my body very carefully, and look for those small moments between breaths when there is no tightness or constriction in mind or body. These are little reminders that the vastness of the absolute mind is there whether we glimpse or not, like the sun shining behind the clouds, we know it’s there, but feel its illumination even more when ignorance moves aside like the passing of clouds.
So the next time you’re not feeling so well, practice like this. And then, be grateful for the chance to willingly go through something difficult so that another person may be spared from it.
Blessings on your day!
